First, you need to understand that I have limited control here. Most of what I write gets deleted or misplaced. (I sometimes find bits of it on other pages.)
There are others like you, and like me, who have hacked this site and attempted to ascertain the its orgins and its author. Most give up and stop communicating, or get locked out. I have been alone here for months. I don't claim to be completely immune to what this place does to you, but I believe I have, thus far, handled the negative effects better than others.
1. Just accept that most of what you read and the images you see are either random with no meaning at all, or placed by some fuckwit who is intent on confusing you. That's survival lesson numero uno. I mean, heed the warnings, but don't lose sleep over them. It's a goddamn website. How could it possibly come get you?
2. There is no meaningful or consistent form of navigation here. There is no menu. Sometimes there will be a text link leading to another page, other times you have to click a photo. The photo will often have nothing to do with the page it leads you to.
3. Do not seek deep meaning. That's what drives people crazy. I truly believe that most of the text here is nearly, but not completely, meaningless.
4. Everyone who has come before you arrvied at this one agreement: This collection of pages and memories is not the product of a single person. How could it be? It's too disjointed. Only an absolute nutter could have posted all this random nonsense. There must be (have been) at least two people, perhaps many more. Where are they now? We do not know.
5. The chaos is obviously by design. The design is obviously by chaos. It is intended to confuse and frustrate us.
This amuses me. Please, continue.
12. Refreshing is not harmless. Every time you reload a page, expect something to be different. Most of the changes are trivial. A photograph moves. A sentence disappears. A link leads somewhere else. Once in a while, something changes that you are absolutely certain was never there before. Don't waste your time trying to remember the previous version. You won't win.
13. If you find the same sentence twice, stop reading. Random repetition is normal. Exact repetition isn't. I don't know why. Every person who stayed here too long eventually mentioned it. Every one of them disappeared shortly afterward. Correlation isn't proof, but I'm not interested in testing the theory myself.
14. Keep your own notes. Do not trust this place to remember anything for you. Page titles change. Files disappear. Links break. Entire sections seem to vanish for weeks. If something matters, write it down somewhere that isn't connected to this website.
15. Don't assume the dates mean anything. Some pages are dated decades apart but reference the same events. Others describe things that haven't happened yet. I stopped trying to establish a timeline. You should too.
18. Not every dead end is permanent. A page that doesn't exist today may exist tomorrow. Conversely, don't become attached to any page you find. They have a habit of... drifting.
19. If something feels directed at you, assume it isn't. This site is full of warnings, accusations, confessions, and threats. You'll eventually find one that seems written specifically for you. That's probably coincidence. Probably.
20. Some links aren't meant to be found. Every now and then you'll stumble across something that doesn't appear to be connected to anything else. No inbound links. No breadcrumbs. No explanation. Bookmark it immediately. You may never find it again.
You are trying my patience. Anymore comments on that subject will be dealt with harshly.
37. Don't confuse consistency with truth. Some lies here are repeated often enough that they begin to feel like facts. Some facts only appear once.
38. Don't believe everything I tell you. I've corrected this page so many times that I no longer know which version you're reading. If two of these rules contradict each other, follow the one that seems less dangerous.
39. If you're trying to solve this place, lower your expectations. Everyone arrives believing there's a hidden code, an ending, or a grand explanation waiting at the center. Nobody has found one. Either it doesn't exist, or the people who found it stopped talking.
40. There are pages you will never see. I know they exist because I've seen links to them in server logs. By the time I managed to follow them, they were gone. Maybe they're generated for specific visitors. Maybe they're deleted immediately. Maybe they're never meant to be opened.
41. Leave while you still think it's just a website. That sentence will eventually stop sounding sarcastic.
42. If you find another Help page, ignore this one. Unless this is the other Help page. I honestly can't tell anymore. Jesus fuck.
This place remembers visitors more accurately than visitors remember it.
